Lake Erie Metropark is offering an early evening cruise on the lower Detroit River Oct. 15. The cruise departs from the Lake Erie Metropark marina at 4 p.m. and returns at sunset.
The three-hour cruise aboard the schoolship "Clinton" will explore the area's scenery and wildlife. There will be interpreters on board to provide commentary on the natural and historical wonders of the river.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children under 18, and must be purchased in advance. A Metropark vehicle entry permit is also required.

The Polka Booster Club of America is having a Polish Heritage Dance, with doors opening at 1 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Msgr. Hunt K of C Hall, 7080 Garling Dr., Dearborn Heights.
Music will be by Pan Franek, Zosia and the Polka Towners. Guests are encouraged to wear their red and white or traditional Polish outfits.
Admission is $12, and includes, beer, wine and soft drinks.
The hall will be hopping again when the Polka Booster Club of America holds a special benefit dance starting at 1 p.m. Oct. 29.

In recognition of national Paint Your Own Pottery Day, Artistically Yours, 2142 West Road, Trenton, is having a pot painting party Oct. 21.
Choose from over 200 pottery pieces, ranging from $6 for a tile to $50 for a large platter. Customers who make purchases of $20 or more will get $2 off.
After pieces are painted, they are fired in a kiln and ready for pick up in one week. All pieces are then food safe. No experience is necessary, with an idea book, many design tools, stencils and stamps to use for free.
The first 25 customers can paint a free Christmas ornament, and everyone can register for a painting and bead party for the whole family.
