Joel Osteen

Hear about the golden age of rock 'n' roll in the Motor City as rock promoters Bob Harris and John Douglas Peters visit Barnes & Noble, 3120 Fairlane Drive, Allen Park, at 1 p.m. Aug. 23.

Harris, who spent 50 years as a promoter, manager and rock newspaper publisher, and Peters, a former rock concert promoter in the 1960s, will talk about their new book, "Motor City Rock and Roll: The 1960s and 1970s," during the event.

The publication features intimate band stories, in addition to 200 photos of musicians who started in Detroit and then traveled the world, as well as world-famous acts that performed in the city.
