CASTING CALLS

The Taylor Teen Theater will hold auditions for 13- to 19-year-olds for "Pippin" from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the Taylor Activity Building, 12115 Pardee Road, inside Heritage Park.

The musical story follows the life of Pippin, son of fabled Emperor Charlemagne, as he searches for the real meaning and purpose of his life.

Those trying out should be prepared to sing a song of their choice, read from the script and learn a dance.

Karaoke CDs are acceptable or bring sheet music and an accompanist will be on hand. A cappella singing isn't allowed.

If cast, members must pay a registration fee of $55 for Taylor residents and $65 for non-residents on or before the first rehearsal.

For more information, call 1-734-374-3906. Performance dates are Nov. 7-8 and 14-16.

The Seaway Chorale and Orchestra will hold auditions for teens and adults in anticipation of its winter concert, "Jingle All the Way."

Tryouts for soprano, alto, tenor and bass parts are set for 7 p.m. Aug. 26, 6:30 p.m. Sept. 2 and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at Faith United Methodist church, 2530 Charlton, Trenton.

Chorale director Mike Begian and two current chorale members will judge the auditions.

Singers can choose their own solo pieces or sing music suggested by the chorale. Auditions last five minutes and the ability to read music isn't necessary.

Rehearsals are held from 7 to 9:15 p.m. every Tuesday until the show, which is set for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 and 13.

To schedule an audition appointment, call Sharon York at 1-734-783-5202 or Don Van Every at 1-734-676-9504. Send an e-mail to seawaychorale@yahoo.com for more information.

The Downriver Youth Performing Arts Center is seeking an experienced director for its production of "The Wizard of Oz" in November.

The production will be staged the two weekends before Thanksgiving in celebration of DYPAC's 10th anniversary.

Interested directors should complete the application online at www.dypac.com by today. All proposals will be considered.

Auditions will be held in the summer for cast members ages 5 to 19. Original performers with DYPAC's 1998 production of the show can e-mail contact information to dypac@dypac.com to be showcased in special activities associated with the show.

DYPAC's next workshop session is set for September.

Classes are held Saturday mornings for ages 5 to 8 and afternoons for ages 9 to 14. Sessions are six weeks, with a final performance.

Visit www.dypac.com for workshop information. To enroll, e-mail dypac@dypac.com with the participant's name, age as of Sept. 6, parents' names, address, phone number and e-mail address.
